Despite political spin to the contrary, youth unemployment in Portugal is still “exceptionally high”, claims the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) whose latest study using data from last December shows that despite an overall drop across Europe in young jobless, southern countries are still flagging horribly. Greece, for example, had over 51% of its youngsters out of work. Portugal, with 35%, ‘beats’ Italy (42.6%) and Spain (50.7%).
