The government has today prolonged Portugal’s State of Alert until March 22 – meaning the wearing of masks in indoor situations, like schools, remains ‘in place’ until at least that date, in spite of the agony of parents and children who maintain they see no good reason for this lingering restriction to be continued. The ‘pandemic’ (if it truly can retain this tag) is seemingly on the wane, with numbers in hospitals falling, incidence down, Rt (transmission) well below the ‘dreaded 1’ number, and ‘fatalities’ invariably in elderly and vulnerable people with compound morbidities.
