Portugal’s standard of education dropped to 47th place

It’s one ranking that Portugal’s politicians will be trying not to highlight this week. Educationally, Portugal has now fallen behind the standards of even Mongolia – a country characterised by people who live in tents. According to the latest global prosperity index, Portugal’s standard of education dropped to 47th place in 2013 (from 33rd in 2012), meaning the country is now ranked not only behind Mongolia, but also the tiny Balkan country of Montenegro.
