Portugal’s public debt reaches record 137.1% of GDP

Portugal’s public debt in the first three months of this year has reached a record 137.1% of GDP – that’s 3.5 percentage points above totals for the end of 2020, reports the Bank of Portugal today. In monetary terms it means the country’s public debt has increased by a further €1.2 billion on figures for February, reaching close to €275.3 billion. Says SIC (television news) in comparison to public debt for the same period in 2020, totals have increased by €20.4 billion.
