Portugal’s presidential elections will cost over half a million euros just in masks, gloves and alcohol gel

Portugal’s presidential elections will have a new price-tag to contend with this time round: almost half a million euros has to be spent on providing masks, gloves, visors and alcohol gel for staff and members of the public in polling stations.

The costing of €439,000 plus IVA has been published in government newspaper Diário da República ahead of the elections which will be taking place on January 24.
