Portugal's police distribute free "I'm Here!" child ID bracelets at Algarve airport

Special bracelets aimed at helping authorities identify missing children between the ages of two and nine are available this summer for no charge at the Algarve’s seven PSP police stations.
Entitled ‘Estou Aqui!’ (I’m Here!), the initiative’s main goal is to make it easier to identify children found after they have gone missing.
Each bracelet has its own identification number. Once a bracelet is provided to a child, the number is activated within the PSP database.
The bracelets can also be used elsewhere in the European Union.
So far, around 3,000 have been handed out.
Police have been giving them to tourists as they start their holidays from Faro Aiport and the initiative will continue until the end of August.
The bracelets are only valid for the summer season. They will become inactive after September 30.
