Portugal’s new ambassador to Cape Verde “sees more than tourism”

Portugal’s new ambassador to Cabo Verde, Paulo Lourenço, said yesterday it is time for Portuguese companies to see “beyond the tourist destination,” investing in the archipelago in priority areas such as energy transition, the blue economy and digital. “We are in a change of economic cycle in Cape Verde, with a clear focus on energy transition, blue economy, and digitalisation. Cape Verde has been able to train qualified resources in this area at its universities, and I think Portuguese companies have to look again at Cape Verde in a logic that is now much more focused on these areas,” he told Lusa.
