AVENIDA DA Liberdade is to be incorporated into a study aimed at examining the impact of traffic on urban areas.
As part of the study, the country’s most polluted street is to be cleaned from top to bottom, between September 15 and 30, by Lisbon Câmara’s urban hygiene department.
The environmental impact study, which will take place from 10am to 2pm daily, is being carried out in tandem with Lisbon’s Universidade Nova.
The overall aim of the study is to find ways of minimising the impact of exhaust fumes on the urban environment and improve air quality in inner city areas.
