Portugal’s monkey pox cases rise to 100

Monkey pox cases in Portugal have risen again. According to latest figures, there are now 100 confirmed cases, all of them in men (generally under the age of 40) who are described as “stable” and recovering at home. Two cases required hospital treatment but have since been discharged. The men are “men who sleep with men”, although authorities are unhappy with the public perception that monkey pox is a disease of the homosexual community (as women too can contract it).
