Portugal’s largest Aldi supermarket opens in Albufeira

The largest Aldi supermarket in Portugal was inaugurated in Albufeira on September 8 near the town’s old bullring.

Featuring a multistorey car park with around 190 parking spaces, the supermarket is open every day between 7.30am and 11pm and boasts a 1,500sqm area open to the public, as well as a 400sqm warehouse.

The new store has created 40 jobs, the German supermarket chain says.

“The people of Albufeira already know us well as it was here that we opened one of our first stores,” said Aldi Portugal’s expansion managing director, João Braz Teixeira.

“On the other hand, Albufeira is visited seasonally by thousands of tourists who already know our brand from other countries, so it continues to have great potential for growth.”

With this latest opening, Aldi now has five stores in the Albufeira borough and 15 in the Algarve.
