EU || Portugal registered the sixth biggest decrease in industrial production in the European Union in June, with a 1.2% drop compared to May, according to data from the EU’s statistical office Eurostat.
Portugal’s industrial output had already fallen in May (-3.2%) compared to the previous month, making June the second consecutive month of slowdown.
In terms of the EU as a whole, production fell marginally (-0.1%), while the eurozone’s decrease was only slightly more significant (-0.3%). Back in May, it had fallen 1.1% in both.
The largest decreases in June were registered in Ireland (-16.5%), the Netherlands (-3.0%) and Lithuania (-2.7%), while the biggest increases in industrial production were in Malta (+5.2%), Denmark (+2.4%) and Hungary (+1.8%).
Compared to June 2013, however, Portugal registered a slight increase (+0.1%).
