Portugal’s ICUs in the main treating 40-59 year-olds for serious Covid infection

The age group worst-affected by the current spread of SARS-CoV-2 in Portugal has reduced, thanks to the vaccination roll-out, to those in their 40s to 60s. The meeting this morning at Infarmed has heard that most of the patients in ICUs at the moment are aged between 40-59. The government’s red line for ICU capacity is 245; hospitals are currently running with 198 people in intensive care units.
