It was good while it lasted, but Portugal can no longer boast the title of having the longest suspension bridge in the world. A little more than a year since the opening of Arouca’s stunning ‘516 Arouca’ (named because it runs for 516 metres), the Czech Republic is opening its Sky Bridge 721 (named because it runs for 721 metres). Both guarantee exceptional views and an an unforgettable experience. The Arouca suspension bridge has helped dynamise the local tourism sector, albeit there has been discussion recently over whether or not it should operate when fire risks are paramount.
