Portugal, and more specifically the Algarve, is being plugged big-time on the online Huff Post blog as being Europe’s best-known retirement secret. It’s not just about the beaches, the wonderful climate, the superb food, rolling golf courses and lovely people, it’s also to do with the ‘tax haven’ status that the government recently created in a bid to attract new investment. According to Huff Post’s blog, a retired couple can live in Portugal very comfortably for as “little as 2,000 dollars a month”.
