Foreign affairs minister João Gomes Cravinho

Portugal to reinforce its contribution to NATO’s support of Ukraine

Going into talks in Bucharest, Romania, today, Portugal’s minister for foreign affairs, João Gomes Cravinho, said that Portugal will be reinforcing its contribution to the support that NATO has offered Ukraine, without specifying amounts. These details are among items to be discussed by ministers over the next couple of days. But Mr Gomes Cravinho also mentioned NATO’s ‘open door’ not just to Ukraine, but to Georgia and Moldova “which is all the more important today”, he added. Moldova particularly is being increasingly affected by the war in Ukraine.
