Portugal to host European Golf Business Conference in 2020

Cascais will host the 2020 European Golf Conference, organised annually by the Golf Course Association Europe.

It will be the second time that Portugal will host the event, which attracts around 250 international golf professionals and influencers. The announcement came at the closing of the European Golf Business Conference 2019 in Berlin recently.

The three-day conference is a major event for the golfing industry at all levels, with delegates from 25 countries, and offers a once-a-year opportunity to get up to speed with the latest trends in the European and worldwide golf arena.

The conference is aimed at golf course owners, managers and developers, golf tourism businesses, golf industry consultants, architects, academics and experts, as well as golf equipment suppliers looking to expand their contacts in Europe.

The event will feature workshops and presentations from some of the greatest golf specialists and experts from all over the world.

The 2020 edition will be co-organised by the CNIG (Portuguese Golf Industry Council) with the support of the Cascais tourist office Turismo de Cascais.

CNIG president Luís Correia said: “The decision to choose Portugal to host the event reflects the undeniable importance that the Portuguese golf industry has in the European market.”

He also said it was a consequence of “the determined efforts by business leaders in the sector represented by the CNIG in showing the best practices in our industry, which have been the basis for success for various regions of Portugal as global golf destinations for several years, not to mention Portugal being voted ‘The Best Golf Destination in the World 2018’ for the fifth consecutive year by the World Golf Awards.”
