Portugal "still without 1,000 special needs teachers"

Portugal is running short of 1,000 special educational needs teachers, warns teaching union Fenprof.
According to a survey conducted by the union, Portugal had over 2,000 special education teachers last year, while this year only 875 have been allocated.
Speaking to Sol newspaper, Fenprof leader Mário Nogueira said it shows that the numbers the Ministry of Education presents about the country’s lack of teachers are patently false.
This is yet another headache for Education Minister Nuno Crato whose resignation is being called for since the “disastrous” start to this academic year.
Latest data out this week – over a month into the start of the Christmas term – shows that 20,000 children are still without fully-functional timetables.
