Portugal Sail & Power moves back to Vilamoura Marina

Portugal Sail & Power, a Royal Yacht Association training centre, has moved back to Vilamoura Marina after eight years based in Albufeira.

The company’s new classroom and office was inaugurated on Friday, June 7 at Edifício Vilamoura by Vilamoura Marina’s managing director Isolete Correia.

The decision to move back to Vilamoura, where the training centre was based between 2001 and 2011, came after the formation of a close association with the “highly successful charter company Timeless Moments which is based in Vilamoura”.

Julian Mead, who has been running Portugal Sail & Power since the start, has also teamed up with Dave Masters and Paulo Aveleira.

Dave is an instructor for VHF Radio, First Aid and powerboats, while Paulo is an instructor for motor, sail and powerboats as well as being a shorebased instructor for theory and VHF courses.

“In order to deliver this wide range of courses, it was essential for Portugal Sail & Power to have a prestigious shorebased facility,” the training centre says.

Portugal Sail & Power says that it will “promote the wonderful facilities that are available in the Marina de Vilamoura to boat owners and visiting yachtsmen and women, further cementing the relationship with the Marina.”

All types of RYA courses and training are now available through Portugal Sail and Power.
