Portugal responsible for its dire economic situation, says P

Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho told a Brazilian weekly newsmagazine that Portugal’s dire economic situation had to do with “bad decisions made internally” and not with European politics. Speaking to Veja magazine, the Prime Minister said: “The imbalances of Portugal resulted from bad decisions we made.

“We spent money unwisely, selected public works projects badly, increased taxes and did not open the country to economic growth.

“European leaders did not make our situation worse, on the contrary they helped us,” concluded Pedros Passos Coelho.
