Portugal was the European Union country that registered the biggest decrease (-3.6%) in industrial output in May, revealed statistical office Eurostat which compared figures with the previous month.
In the EU, production levels also shrunk 1.1%, with Sweden (-3.2%) and Denmark (-2.1%) registering the most significant drops behind Portugal.
In April, Portugal had actually registered the biggest increase (+6.7%) in industrial output in the EU.
