Portugal registers 3500 “disappeared” every year

In commemoration of International Day of the Disappeared today (on August 30) news reports revealed that every year Portugal sees 3500 people going missing. The statistic gleaned from PJ police records came as elsewhere the International Red Cross commemorated the day, saying governments should make more effort to try and find citizens who go missing due to armed conflicts, situations of violence, natural disasters, migrations, kidnaps or ‘mysterious circumstances’.
