Portugal receives first ‘cheque’ from EU’s bazooka

Portugal has received its first ‘cheque’ as a result of the EU’s multi-billion funding ‘bazooka’ for post-pandemic recovery. It came to €5.4 million and is headed for Madeira. Another €200 million is expected “in the coming days”, assures planning minister Nelson de Souza. The money will be distributed among initiatives approved under the EU’s REACT initiative under the ‘Compete 2020’ programme.
