Portugal more animal friendly

Dear Editor,

Thank you for your two animal-related articles about Robert Nestmann and his donkeys “moving” to Portugal and António Costa’s relentless search for his dog Gui.

It is great to finally see newspapers giving editorial space to these kinds of stories, which only show how Portugal is changing and becoming more animal-friendly with every passing day.

I know that many British people think that the Portuguese do not treat their animals well, but I think that this is changing, especially amongst the country’s younger population.

Mr António Costa’s determined attempts to find his lost companion also prove that even the country’s older generations have love and respect for their four-legged friends.
