Portugal Masters golf tournament postponed

The Portugal Masters golf tournament due to take place between April 29 and May 2 in Vilamoura, in the Algarve, has been postponed “due to limitations on travel caused by the Covid-19 pandemic”, the European Tour organisation has announced. Executive director Keith Pelley said: “Sadly it simply wasn’t possible to organise the event next month, for this reason we are looking into the possibility of rescheduling for later this year”. Coming hot-on-the-heels of news that F1 and MotoGP events in the Algarve are to go ahead without spectators, this is just another blow for the Algarve’s tourism and events sector, not to mention the wider local economy.
