Portugal leads world for wine consumption

OIV, the Organization of Vine and Wine, has pegged the country’s consumption of wine at 4.6 million hectolitres in 2021, taking Portugal to the top of the world table. Per person, this means each Portuguese drank an average of 51.9 litres of wine (the same score as flagged in 2020). This represents five litres more, per person, than wine consumption in France.
