Portugal joins “Trident Juncture 2015” NATO exercise

Portugal this week sees soldiers from various countries in the Atlantic Alliance taking part in NATO exercise “Trident Juncture 2015” in Beja. A first phase in operations is due to continue till October 16, and then a second will run from October 21 to November 6. Exercises will take place in Portugal, Spain and Italy and involve, all told, “36,000 soldiers of more than 30 nationalities”, writes Lusa.

“The principle objective of the exercise is to demonstrate NATO’s capacity to plan, generate, prepare, project and maintain forces and resources,” said a release from the major general of the armed forces.
