Portugal was the third largest producer of tomatoes in the European Union (EU) last year.
According to data from Eurostat, Portugal produced 8% of the union’s tomatoes. Only Italy (36.3%) and Spain (27.4%) supplied more.
Further statistics show that Portugal also produced 2.5% and 3.6% of EU’s vegetables and fruit.
