As temperatures soar, naturists will be delighted to hear there is a new venue where they can bare all without the fear of being told to cover-up. Praia da Adiça, in Fonte da Telha, brings the number of national nudist beaches up to eight, and is the third in the Lisbon area. It can be found on the popular Caparica stretch of coastline, next to the naturist niche of Praia da Bela Vista.
As Turismo de Lisboa explained this week, the decision to “legalise” nudity on Adiça followed almost three decades where the lifestyle choice “has been tolerated”.
Portugal’s other “official” naturist beaches are Meco (Sesimbra), Adegas (Odeceixe), Alteirinhos (Zambujeira do Mar), Salto (Porto Covo), Barril (Tavira) and Deserta (Barreta, Faro) – although as many beachgoers will already be aware naturists have a tendency to pop up almost anywhere.
