The enthusiasm and response of the country and its businesses to welcome Ukrainians fleeing the war has seen the government launch a special online platform “Portugal for Ukraine” today (click here). At the moment only in English and Portuguese, but hopefully to include Ukrainian very shortly, it sets out to explain the ‘responses and actions of support’ available to refugees, giving telephone numbers and email addresses, for people to contact. All media today are stressing the fact that ‘more than 17,000 jobs’ have already been made available for Ukrainians arriving in this country and ready to work. They are principally in the tourism, hospitality, civil construction and agricultural sectors. The website also seeks to give guidance on transportation to Portugal, as well as bureaucratic issues.
