Portugal considered “strongly innovative” country, for first time

Portugal has, for the first time, been considered a “strongly innovative” country. The news comes as a result of the European Innovation Scoreboard which rates countries annually. Say reports, Portugal’s ranking was boosted by the government’s €200 million ‘Casa Eficiente 2020’ programme, the Energetic Efficiency Fund (created in 2010 and designed to finance measures and programmes within the national action plan for energetic efficiency) and the Plan for Recovery and Resilience which includes €620 million ‘destined for the improvement of energetic efficiency in buildings’. The new recognition puts Portugal in slot 12 of the 27 member States.
