Portugal climbs 13 slots in list of ‘most equal countries’

Portugal has climbed 13 slots in the ‘gender gap report’ of the Global Economic Forum – showing which countries rank best in the way they promote the sexes. The new ranking puts us in 22nd place. Say reports, the ‘positive evolution’ has been seen in the number of women in parliament (up from 35.6% to 40% last year) and the number of women given government posts (a leap from last year’s 29.4% to this year’s 42.1%). The ranking is led by Iceland, followed by Finland, Norway, New Zealand and Sweden.
