Portugal “clearly at end of a pandemic phase”

The first intervention this afternoon at the Infarmed meeting of experts expected to call for a radical reopening of society (click here) has heard from DGS’ Pedro Pinto Leite who claims Portugal is “clearly at the end of a phase in the pandemic”. There were four “large waves” over the last 18 months, but now there is no municipality with more than 960 cases per 100,000 (indeed only 12 are showing more cases than 480 per 100,000), case numbers for 10-19 year olds and 20-29-year-olds are well down, and testing is throwing up new cases at a rate of only 2.5%.
