Portugal’s Marcos Freitas, Tiago Apolónia and João Geraldo will be remembered as the first national team to win the table tennis gold medal at the 1st European Games, a multi-sport event being held in Baku, Azerbeijan between June 12 and 28.
The Portuguese national team beat France 3-1 in the final, which took place on Monday (June 15). This was Portugal’s second gold medal less than a year after winning the European Team Championship in October.
