Portugal still has a chance of reaching the round of 16
Portugal’s women’s national football team achieved their first victory in a FIFA Women’s World Cup today by defeating Vietnam 2-0, keeping themselves in the race for qualification to the round of 16.
Telma Encarnação scored Portugal’s first goal in World Cup history just seven minutes into the match, with Kika Nazareth adding a second at the 21st minute.
The march was played in Hamilton, New Zealand, and was Portugal’s second match in Group E following a 1-0 loss to Netherlands.
With this win Portugal has three points, one behind world champions, the United States, whom they will face in the last match, and one behind runners-up Netherlands. Meanwhile, Vietnam, with no points, is already eliminated from the tournament.
