For the Algarve to have 8/10 of the best beaches in Portugal shouldn’t necessary be local news; I think we all knew that. What is more worrying is that none of these beaches made the Top 25 in the world. Praia Santa Maria in Cabo Verde (22/25) came the closest to representing Portugal.
Let’s not forget that the Algarve once had the most beautiful beach in Europe, Praia Dona Ana. Unsurprisingly there was no mention of this beach, which is fair enough given its transformation into a complete and utter mess (pictured).
