To date, Portugal has administered over one million vaccines. Vaccinations are going ahead at the rate of around 4,000 per day. Secretary of State for Health Diogo Serra Lopes has marked the milestone, admitting there is still “a long way to go”. To reach the 16 million mark that the country hopes to acheive, “obviously we will have to increase the rhythm”, he said today. Of the doses given so far 716,000 have been ‘first doses’, meaning only 284,000 people are currently fully-protected.
