Forget all those allegations that the Portuguese are lazy. A new study has shown that Portugal is the 5th country in Europe where people work the longest hours. Romania is apparently the ‘winner’, with citizens there keeping their noses to the grindstone for no less than 41 hours and 12 minutes every week – while France is the slacker of the bunch (37 hours and 20 minutes). According to Eurostat, the Portuguese work a commendable 40 hours and 18 minute per week.
