The majority of nurses working in Porto’s IPO oncology surgical service have put in for ‘excuse of responsibility’ – a procedure used to sound the alarm, at the same time protecting health professionals in any future cases of litigation. Say reports, the nurses say they are so short staffed that the safety of patients could be at risk. The hospital, however, has assured SIC television news that it is hiring extra staff, which should be in place by the end of this month.
