‘World of Discoveries’ – a brand new theme park and museum based on the history of the Portuguese Discoveries – has just opened in Miragaia, Porto.
Boss Mário Ferreira told radio station Renascença that the park is designed to take visitors on a journey through the swashbuckling era “in an interactive, fun way that hopefully leaves them eager to find out even more when they leave”.
It is equipped with a variety of life-size scenarios, navigation tools, maps, 4D globes and much more throughout its 5,000 square metre area.
There is even a boat ride recreating the Portuguese voyages to Africa, Asia and South America.
The park – which opened on April 25 – represents an €8 million investment and hopes this year alone to attract 300,000 national and foreign visitors.
