Porto octogenarian dies in Algarve hotel pool

An 81-year-old Portuguese tourist from the Porto area died on Thursday afternoon (June 15) in one of the swimming pools of Dunas Douradas Beach Club in Vale do Garrão, Almancil.

According to national tabloid Correio da Manhã, the man who was on holiday with his family had a “long history of heart problems” and became unwell after he got into the pool.

A lifeguard performed CPR after getting the elderly man out of the water, but his death was declared at the poolside.
