FC Porto are the new Primeira Liga champions after Sporting and Benfica could only draw 0-0 at the Alvalade last Saturday.
With a five-point advantage, Porto were assured of the title even before their 2-1 home win over Feirense on the Sunday.
Porto was a sea of blue as manager Sérgio Conceição and his players celebrated ending Benfica’s four-year monopoly of the league.
Porto are now guaranteed Champions League football next season as the two Lisbon giants must wait and see who will take the remaining automatic place depending on this Saturday’s results as Benfica entertain Moreirense and Sporting make the difficult trip to Madeira to play Marítimo.
Both clubs are level on points and their head-to-head results are the same (both draws), so if both teams win, it will be the Eagles who take second place due to their far superior goal difference.
