Portimonense set to receive €7 million

Portimonense: Jackpot!

Portimonense are set to receive a further €7 million this month in full payment for 24-year-old forward Beto who left for Italian Serie A side Udinese last summer.

The deal, worth €10 million in total, could see the Algarveans, who retained 30% of the player’s commercial rights, pocket another €9 million as Beto’s eleven-goal haul this season has attracted the attention of both champions AC Milan as well as Napoli, either one of which are tempted to meet Udinese’s current €30 million valuation of their asset.

More significant funds beckon if German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen proceed with their enquiries for 22-year-old defender Filipe Relvas, who has a €20 million release clause, while Portimonense are also looking to cash in on Willyan, who has one year of his present contract remaining.

In other news, long-standing former captain Ricardo Pessoa, who has served as assistant coach in Portimão since retiring from active duty with a record 426 matches over 12 seasons under his belt in 2018, is leaving for yet to be announced pastures new.

Elsewhere, Chaves confirmed their return to the top tier at the expense of Moreirense by emerging the 2-1 aggregate score play-off winners over their now relegated rivals last Sunday.
