Portimonense: Ready, steady, go!

Portimonense 1-0 Sporting Covilhã

Portimonense 2-1 Estrela da Amadora

Portimonense ended their pre-season preparation on a high ahead of this Sunday evening’s big kick-off against Boavista, adding two more successes to the previous week’s victories over Sporting Lisbon and Braga.

A 52nd-minute Pedrão penalty was enough to see off Covilhã last Wednesday whilst Yago Cariello opened the scoring as early as the third minute during Saturday’s encounter with Amadora for his third goal in as many matches. A mistake by keeper Payam then let the visitors draw level through Papalele shortly before the interval, but a Sapara strike made sure of another win as the game was nearing its end.

Meanwhile, Bruno Lage-managed English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers paid a flying visit to the Algarve last weekend, drawing 1-1 with Sporting at the Stadium of the Algarve on Saturday before coming away with an identical result against Farense at their St Luis stadium official presentation.
