ALLIANZ LEAGUE CUP: NACIONAL 2-0 PORTIMONENSE
Portimonense fielded an almost full-strength side for their first group phase tie in Madeira last Saturday afternoon but failed to create a single goal-scoring opportunity throughout the match.
An uneventful opening half was followed by Nacional’s Zé Manuel slotting home twice in quick succession before Fahd Moufi added insult to injury by collecting a straight red card as manager Paulo Sérgio spoke of a “humiliation”.
On Sunday morning (11am ko), Portimonense receive Covilhã, who drew 2-2 at home with Gil Vicente, in the other Group E encounter. Meanwhile, Ewerton has left the club on loan for Japan’s Vegalta Sendai in a deal worth up to €1 million.
