Second division || Following three League Cup and three second division games Portimonense are still looking for their first win of the new season.
Last Sunday a bright start soon wilted in the afternoon heat leaving fans to sit through a drab goalless draw with visiting Oriental. New signings Bata, Marakis and Mamadu all made satisfactory debuts but proved unable to contribute significantly to the creation of scoring opportunities of which there were few.
During the week, the Algarveans announced the arrival of another new face in the shape of ex-Paços de Ferreira central defender Rafael Amorim, but judging on the solitary goal scored in the league to date, a centre forward to partner Fidelis up front should top manager Vitor Maçãs’ list of priorities.
Currently anchored in 19th place on a paltry two points, seven behind leaders Oliveirense, Portimonense can now spend the rest of the week on the training pitch trying to shape their squad into a more potent fighting unit, able to improve on previous showings by the time Feirense come to visit this Sunday afternoon.
