Portimonense return to action at home against Famalicão this Friday evening – 8.30pm kick-off at the Municipal Stadium – following a 10-day rest, knowing that they have not lost to their opponents since 2015.
Last season, a 2-1 home success was followed by a 1-0 away victory, guaranteeing maximum points from the two Liga NOS encounters.
At present, Famalicão occupy 11th place in the table but have only one win from their last five matches.
Although Portimonense share last place in the league with Marítimo on seven points, that situation could change very quickly given that only three points currently separate the eight clubs populating the lower half of the table.
Off the pitch, Portimonense will be attempting to strengthen their squad during the upcoming January transfer window with Botafogo’s Keisuke Honda, São Paulo’s Luan and Sporting Recife’s Junior Tavares on the radar.
Meanwhile, it is hoped that summer ‘signing’ Anatole Abang can finally overcome bureaucratic difficulties and complete his move from Moldavia to the Algarve.
