Portimonense defeated by Dragons

It was indicative of the game as a whole that Portimonense stand-in keeper Ricardo Ferreira (pictured) was the best man on the pitch for the visitors during last Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Porto B.~
In the absence of regulars Moreno, Fabricio, Zambujo, Bruno Gonzalez and the still recovering Dyego Sousa, manager Lázaro Oliveira’s team had little option but to defend – a hopeless task against the very attack-minded hosts inspired by gifted midfielder and scorer of the opener, Tozé.
Ricardo added the second just after the break and only Ferreira’s outstanding performance prevented a landslide.
Portimonense head into tomorrow’s (Saturday) home showdown with Benfica B – live on Sport TV1 from 6pm – on the back of three winless games and in desperate need of reinforcements capable of compensating for the ever-growing list of injuries. Yet a success would be very welcome having slipped to third in the league table, two points behind new leaders Moreirense, albeit still three points clear of a non-promotion place.
In the Algarve’s capital Farense regained winning ways following a hard-earned 1-0 result over Leixões and travel to Aves on Saturday afternoon.
