Portimonense beat Olhanense

Both teams were without games having lost in earlier rounds of the Portugal Cup. Portimonense, struggling in the relegation region of the Primeira Liga, took the opportunity to hold a training game with Campeonato de Portugal Division D leaders Olhanense.

Portimonense ran out 3-0 winners with goals from Pedro Sá and Colombian strikers Jackson Martínez and Marlos Moreno.

It gave Portimonense manager António Folha an opportunity to try out new strategies before the important game against high-flying Famalicão at the Portimão Municipal Estádio at 8.30pm on Saturday.

Portimonense have only one league victory to their name and that was away at Tondela back in mid-August.

Likewise, Olhanense manager Vasco Faísca had a valuable workout against strong opposition before Olhanense’s game at third place Alverca (Vila Franca de Xira) on Sunday. Olhanense boss Vasco Faísca, 39, who is being linked with a coaching role at Sporting Lisbon next season, will have a full squad to pick from as Zach Muscat (Malta) and Leandro Lelo (Portugal U20) return from international duty.
