Portimão’s Vai-Vem bus network and many other services are in serious danger of closing altogether as costly insurance contracts are coming up for renewal.
The Court of Auditors put the brakes on the renewals as it considers Portimão council would be very unlikely to be able to pay them. The council is currently over €133 million in debt and still desperately awaiting funds from the Fundo de Apoio Municipal (FAM).
