THE TRADITIONAL Festival da Sardinha de Portimão will take place between August 5 and 14, and visitors to this enormously popular annual event will not only have the opportunity to enjoy delicious grilled sardines, but also to savour some of the Algarve’s mouthwatering sweets and desserts.
And it’s not just great food that’s on offer – there will be an extensive programme of live music, featuring some of Portugal’s best home grown talent, including Santos e Pecadores, Vanessa da Mata, Pedro Abrunhosa and Toranja.
Much more in store…
The borough of Portimão has plenty more to delight residents and visitors alike over the summer months.
August 20 and 21 sees the staging of a typical fair entitled Artes e Sabores da Nossa Terra (arts and flavours of our land) in Mexilhoeira Grande, which will feature genuine local produce and locally made handicrafts.
Then, rounding up the borough’s summer gastronomy events, Figueira hosts the Festival do Berbigão (cockle festival) on September 11.
